Infiniti Driver’s Audio Stage

Center Console InfinitiIt’s time for another post about the car! Last time we discussed the new iPod Integration system available on the G35. Another unique feature is the G’s new, optional Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose, combining the industry’s first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating a 24-bit Burr Brown Digital Audio Converter. The Infiniti Driver’s Audio Stage is another optional package for the 2008 G35.

The Audio Stage sounds like it is something every audiophile would want. Of course I want the best for my car, so I looked this up. However, I could find little information on it. But what I did find was pretty informative, so I’ll let you know what I found. But first, let’s provide some information on the Studio on Wheels system designed by Bose.

The Studio on Wheels that comes with the premium package for Infinitis is already pretty sweet. Here are the features for that system:

10 speakers within the cabin. The main sound is carried in the front doors: 3″ neodymium-magnet tweeter/midrange units, 1″ soft-dome tweeters, and 10″ neodymium-magnet woofers. The rear doors sport 6.5″ full-range fill speakers, the parcel shelf boasts a 10″ self-powered woofer, and there’s a third 3″ mid/tweeter in the center just to ‘fix’ the center image

There is some DSP involved to make the sound better as well. Now what’s this Audio Stage? Well its definitely made for audiophiles who are feeling a little jealous. The Audio Stage is a system developed by Bose that allows the driver to flip a switch and center the sound around him or herself! From (Stereophile):

For ‘08, we have it worked out so that when you’re driving solo (or feeling selfish), you can flick a switch and center the image for the driver. The left speaker moves virtually to about 4′ outside the left door. Now that’s impressive.

I really like what I’m reading there. It’s almost enough to make me consider going out there and getting a 2008. Who knows.. if the price is right?

It’s really great to see someone with the initiative to do something creative in hopes of earning money to get something he really wants. I already have an 07 G35s and I still read this blog because it’s simple and it reminds me of how much I love my car and how I once dreamt about getting it.
