Google v. Text Link Ads
Does Google really not support Text-Link-Ads? A quick look at the ad here says no. If you don’t believe it, here is the image as it was embedded into the text. It seems that while Google has been taking down the pagerank pages that sell text link ads, they are more than happy to advertise it to people who visit sites monetized by Google Adsense. Isn’t this a bit of a redundant move?
Many sites, such as More Merchant, John Chow, and One Man’s Goal all feature text-link-ads on their sites. The basic consensus on their sites is that they will continue to use the text-link ads regardless of what google does to them. I agree with this stand because the owner of the website should have full ability to decide what goes on their website. Whether they decide to monetize it or not using TLA is completely up to them!
After seeing this ad (provided by Google Adsense) I’m much less inclined to believe that Google is playing fair. It’s completely hypocritical in my opinion to knock text link ads, then take their money and allow them to advertise to other sites. People who click on these ads and sign up then running TLA on their sites will only get knocked down. By showing this ad, Google is essentially knocking down their own clients. Text Link Ads themselves have not been indexed by Google for quite some time.
So take a stand, and if you run TLA, continue to do so. If not, sign up for them! They are a great way of making stable income on your website or blog.

Something worth thinking about and a good read. I’ll need to have a good look at TLA as a practical alternative to AdSense.
