Get Great Looking, Well Performing Ads for Your Site!

Well, I’m still experimenting with ways to make money online to get to my goal. The recent contest posts are in the hopes of getting something for myself in addition to getting something to give away to the readers on this blog. There will be more to come, but for now I thought I’d write about something that I’m experimenting with. It can be very hard for a new blog to gather enough interest to get a sponsorship from a major company. DevDad suggests that you can go right to the site that you would like to have an affiliate program with. Read his article on that here. You may have noticed that I have a section called “Sponsors”. These are not really sponsors in that they pay every month, but one advertises a program with affiliate earnings, and the rest are from something called Commision Junction.

Commision Junction is a great program where major companies go to provide ads for other websites. There are benefits for both sides on this. Your website or blog gets a very nice, professional looking ad that is likely to increase your click through rate, and the advertiser gets a ton of new opportunities for advertisement. For us bloggers, click through rate is very important. Professional looking ads draw more attention, and are less likely to become subjects to banner blindness. Adsense, on the other hand, might be hurt by this.

However, Commission Junction is not the only site that provides these kinds of ads. Azoogle Ads also provides a way to link up with major companies looking for new online advertising space. However, in my honest opinion, Commission Junction does have the better ads available. A benefit for Azoogle Ads is that they have an affiliate program, while Commission Junction does not. Not one that I could find anyway.

If banner ads are not for you, then there are also text links that you can use. One of my favorite advertisers right now is GoDaddy, since they have provided me with pretty excellent customer service during the time I have been doing business with them. They get my support and great reviews, I get their nice looking ads and potential affiliate earnings! In the short time that I have been using these two programs, the click rate has been quite high compared to the other ads that I have run. So the next time that you go somewhere and think “I’d love it if they had an affiliate program”, check out CJ and Azoogle Ads!
