Car Buying Tips

car salesmanBuying a car can be tough work.  However, with the right resources, you can find yourself a great deal, and have some fun doing it.  I’ve been negotiating the deal on my car, and I have a great deal lined up.  All I have to do is pull the trigger.  Now you are probably wondering… how can you possibly enjoy yourself when you buy a car?  The dealers are pushy, and they try to charge you for everything!  Well, that is true.  You just need to know how to deal with them.  Knowing what to say and do is half the battle when you are buying a car.

Some tips include:

  • Don’t impulse buy.  Do the research before you buy.  Know what you want, and get only that.  Often times dealers will give you a good deal on the car then pad it with extras that you don’t need.
  • Get everything in writing.  The dealer doesn’t have to honor anything that you don’t have in writing.  Verbal contracts are unenforceable most of the time, so be careful with “promises”.  If they won’t write it down, they most likely won’t honor it.
  • Know how much the car is worth.  I can’t stress this enough.  MSRP is never a good price.  Go to Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book and price out your car.  Use the invoice price or lower as a starting point, and know your limit.  Don’t let them force you into anything.
  • The BEST TIP EVER.  Go to Car Buying Tips.  This site is an incredible resource providing you with all the information you need to get to make an informed decision.  There are so many tips here.  When I found the site, I was floored.  I ate up all the information there, and that is where I got most of the tips I mentioned above.  So head on over there if you’re buying a car.  I highly recommend it.  It will tell you of any scams that the dealer might run too, so you’ll be able to beat them at their own game.

When I get the car, I’ll be sure to post pictures here, as well as tell you what I got it for.  Remember, I’m still going to be trying to earn money towards things for the car like gas and insurance, and I’ll let you know how that goes.  This month is already looking a lot better than last month in terms of earnings.  If I can do it, you can do it too!
