Avoid Ad Blindness!

A major factor that prevents people from noticing ads on your site or blog is that they become blind to the ads that are shown there. If they are not changed at a decent rate, then people can just tune them out, and will ignore them. Hopefully you still have good content so that they will stay on your site anyway (and I’m sure you do!).However, its not always easy to go about changing your ads all the time, editing all the code, and making sure you have all the links right. Google does an OK job with this for me, throwing in the occasional video or picture ad, especially on my product information blog (Joe Likes It) However, what do you do when you have all those affiliate links and banners that you want to show? Again, you have to go through all the coding and editing to make sure that your ads look just right. That is, unless you have a Commission Junction account.

Commission Junction has a cool feature called a “Smartzone”. In a Smartzone, you choose which ads you want to appear, whether they be text ads, banners, or certain types of banners. You then give each one a “weight”. This determines the frequency with which that ad will appear. Next, you generate the code and paste it into your blog or site. Now each time someone loads your page, a different banner or text ad will appear based on your settings! The best part is, you don’t have to change anything in the future. You can log into your account and remove or ad more ads as you deem necessary, and the code will automatically remove or display them!

I’ve featured a Commission Junction Smartzone on this post. You can see it in the upper right corner. Try hitting “reload” on your browser and watch as it changes! I can’t stress enough how boring it gets to see the same ads on the page all the time. They’ve got to get moved around and changed occassionally, and this is an extremely easy way to do it! I can’t seem to align though, i will work on that. So go ahead and sign up for Commission Junction, sign up with your desired advertisers, and get started.
